Types of oddities
Our selection falls into four groups. The lines are blurry, on purpose.
Funny immediately
Lands in the first second. A gift that gets a laugh before the wrapping paper is off.
Funny later
The joke lands on day three, standing at the kitchen cupboard. These are the best ones.
Suspiciously useful
Bought as a joke, stayed in the cupboard permanently. Nobody admits it, but everyone uses it daily.
Unexplainable
We genuinely can’t tell you what it is or who it’s for. But it sells.
The three-question test
Every product has to pass this before it reaches the shelf.
- Does anyone laugh? If not, it’s not an oddity, just a thing.
- Can you gift it to someone? If not, it’s a hobby, not merchandise.
- Would we want it ourselves? If not, why are we selling it.
